1999 Double Pump College
Exhibition Teams--(Oct. 29, 1999)

Besides promoting and putting on events such as the West Coast All-Stars Camps, the Best of Summer Tournament, Pump Fall and Easter Tournaments, the California All-Star Games (for boys and girls), Pump Shootouts, and the adidas Big Time Tournament (the day to day details for the latter are really run by Shari Holmes and Larry McKay, but it's still another event in which the Pumps are in many ways responsible), Double Pump Inc., also puts together college-graduate teams which play against some of the best NCAA Division I teams in the country.   This year, there will be four teams, and they will be all over the country, playing exhibition games against some really high-major D-I talent, including Kentucky, Clemson, St. Louis, Missouri, Michigan State, Northwestern, Washington, USC, Hawaii, Utah, Arizona State, New Mexico, Cal Berkeley, UNLV, Washington State, Oregon, Arizona, Syracuse, UMass, Kansas, Maryland, and on and on.

In short, the college exhibition season is set to get started next week, and Double Pump will have four teams out on the road.  We managed to get the schedules for each team, and some tentative rosters.  Unlike last year, when there was an NBA strike going on, and talent was plentiful, it was pretty easy for the Pumps to get some big time players;  this year the story is a little different, and in addition to the NBA being in full swing, there's the CBA, IBL, and all of the European teams to contend with, not to mention several other minor-league type operations starting up this year, all competing for post-graduate college-level talent to throw at the best universities in D-I so that the players can slowly and gradually work their way back into competitive shape.  Nevertheless,  there is still some talent on these squads and some names you might recognize.

Most of these games should be available over the internet through Broadcast.com, or through the RealAudio Sports network.  Check the listings for each date and remember, the times listed are local to the particular venue, so if you are in SoCal on the West Coast, subtract 3 hours from the listed time for east coast games (EST), 2 hours for midwest games (CST), and 1 hour for games in Arizona and Colorado (MST).  If you want to listen to a Hawaii game, add three hours to the listed time.

Here are the schedules for each team.  If you want to see the roster, just click on the link for each team.
