I hope CIF does not use MaxPreps for ranking teams for playoff purposes. MaxPreps is a horrible system and is so inaccurate to the point that it is laughable. CIF already has a good system in place by using teams performances from previous seasons and all they have to do is place teams in a preliminary division to start out and teams that rise to the occasion can be placed in higher divisions and teams that are "rebuilding" or "lost all of my good players to graduation" can be moved down. To me, the playoff system should be fluid to allow for changes to be made. But as always there is no perfect solution and but as long as the teams in the lower divisions are happy then that's all that matters. The teams in the Open Division and the upper divisions will just have to hope that they get placed in a division where they can have a chance to compete and maybe win a championship.
