: : : : : : : : 8 out of the 10 champions once again come from the private schools.
: : : : : : : : Lets here it for Rialto!!!
: : : : : : : : There's just no way the public schools can compete.
: : : : :
: : : : : : : : CIF needs to step up and make divisions for just the private schools so that the public schools have a chance to get a taste of the gold at the end of the rainbow.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : The boys had a 50/50 split in public/private CIF Championships in basketball.
: : : : : : : Corona/Centennial, Tesoro, Valencia/Val., Long Beach Jordan and Blair were public school winners.
: : : : : : : Public schools can compete just fine the way things are right now. There can be fluctuations and given years when privates or publics win more. Think of how close and competitive the boys finals were. Division 3AA was the only division where a private school won their final by a large margin. CIF should be pleased with the overall competitiveness this year.
: : : : : : appreciate your input. but the girls was really all i was talking about and its not and even split between public and private when it comes to girls basketball. and i get it. its the school not just the individual sport.
: : : : : If the boys are 50 50 then yes the public schools can compete. What are you saying, girls is different than boys. nonsense.
: : : : : So your saying there is no recruiting advantage in boys but there is in girls.
: : : : : There are by far, fewer impact girls basketball players than there are boys. Because there are more boys who can play at a high level, the public school programs are able to get enough players to still be able to compete with the private schools. However, that is not the same with the girls. The number of college level players with high skill levels are much fewer, and thus, the private schools are able to snag the majority of them leaving the public schools to have to make due with players that they have to develop. Outside of a school like Etiwanda, whose coach is breaking every rule in the book, and has in the past, the majority of public schools are going to be at a huge disadvantage against the privates in every division.
: : : 1. How is Etiwanda Coach breaking every rule in the book? 2. Private schools have more girls participating in sports than public schools, more academic support and more parental support. Some, NOT ALL, public school kids, cant keep their grades up, therefore cant play, and parents are not as involved, because they are not paying out of pocket for the education. 8/10 private school wins on the girls side IS NOT FAIR. How can public schools even compete in the recruiting arena, when these private schools offer the sun, the moon and the stars to these kids and their parents. Private schools, have better trainers, coaches and facilities. Public school, may have a small weight room, no trainer and a coach that basically volunteers their time.
: : Please go visit the private schools....But let's look at CIF's make up, 40% of the schools are private, but 90 percent of that 40 are tiny schools with terrible facilities. But please, I encourage you to go look at the athletic facilities of Pomona Catholic (no gym), St Lucy's (no wood floor), Alverno...oh wait they just closed.... Webb, Ramona Convent, San Gabriel Mission, Cate, Western Christian, Archer, La Verne Lutheran, Liberty Christian, Capo Valley Christian, Notre Dame Riverside, Holy Family, Village Christian, St. Paul, Sacred Heart of Mary, the list goes on and on.
: : I also want stats on more girls participating in sports at private schools than public considering most of those small schools don't even field as many sports as the publics schools, nor do they field as many levels of play. Tons of private schools, especially on the girls side don't even field JV girls basketball teams because they don't have enough bodies. So provide me with numbers and I will believe you.
: : So you're also saying all these small private schools have trainers? Please present evidence. You say they have better coaches, list me some of the coaches from these tiny schools and give me evidence on why they are better.
: : Frankly you are upset about roughly 25-30 private schools of the roughly 200+ that are in CIF, to lump them all together, and to use your words.....IS NOT FAIR....
: looks like all those schools you mentioned, should have their own league & conference. The little bitty tiny church schools. Any of those schools play in the championship game? No. that is the topic, the 10 schools that played in the championship game. 8 private schools won, 2 public schools. Not upset, its not fair. Private school teams have a full roster of 10-12, plus 5 coaches, AAU coaches, AAU players, etc. public school maybe you get 3-5 girls that can actually play, plus those just wanting to get a PE grade, that never step on the court and most do not play AAU, cant afford it. of those 20-30 private schools- 50% of that number, make it to the championship game, year after year after year after year.

So then make it about those schools and stop saying all private schools.
