: : : There are a handful of new coaches taking over various schools across OC. Which am I missing?

: : : - Laguna Hills HS
: : : - Calvary Chapel
: : : - Brea HS
: : : - Fountain Valley HS
: : : - Edison HS
: : : - Orange HS
: : : - Oceanview HS
: : : - Santa Ana HS
: : : - SA Valley HS
: : : - Northwood HS
: : : - Beckman HS
: : : - Segerstrom HS
: : : - La Quinta HS

: : Amazing how many schools are making changes. I had a deep and interesting conversation about 10 years ago at Cal Poly Pomona. Older white hair guy said in coming years there will be more AAU coaches coaching high school varsity teams. He was right.

: The club guys want the HS jobs so they can get access to gym time. The HS principal & AD hire the club guy because he promises he can get players to show up. When admins stopped prioritizing having coaches on-campus and actually attached and bought-in to the school this was 1000% predictable. Throw in how much money is changing hands in the club world, leading to hundreds of teams sprouting up and lack of gym availability.. It's not that it's never happened, but look back the last 10 years in OC and see which teams were taken over by club coaches and how many of them were actually successful. Rare.. but they got their gym time!

High schools are paying players to go to their schools. In order not to name players, I won't. Offer a "kid and their family money" majority of the time they will take it.

Only one example I will offer. You do the research. Kid was at Fairfax, than Mission Viejo, than Orange Lutheran. Corruption at it best.
