I’m a D3-5 coach. My area gets some of the worst officials just because of our location and talent level. When I saw one of our local refs out there on the biggest stage, I knew things would be interesting. I didn’t think it’d be that bad though. The guy I’m talking about is usually one of the more solid refs we get. I think the pressure of the parents and the stage got to him.

I think everyone in attendance can agree that Roosevelt got screwed at the end but it’s really hard to feel sorry for them. They were out of control the entire game, they got baited into a 6 seconds or less offense, and their own coach and crowd helped to turn those refs against them. HW was extremely disciplined for 99% of the game. I thought their flopping at the end was kinda goofy but at that point the game was already a circus. The fact that it was that close at the end is really a result of how bad the officiating was.
