: : : : : : : : : : : : Anyone know the drama surrounding this team? I heard they did some sketchy business with adding random games to their schedule to boost their overall win percentage.
: : : : : : : : : : : : Is this true? Is it within CIF rules or where's the oversight here?
: : : : : : : : : : : They added a game to get to 500 win percentage. Nothing they did was illegal. Only part out of the ordinary is usually schedule is completed before season. The forfeits were all games scheduled ahead of season. Just the Muir game was added as both teams had an open game since league tournaments do not count on game total.
: : : : : : : : : : The Lakeside Charter "game" was not on Max Preps until the last day of the season. Just an oversight right?
: : : : : : : : : The Lakeside Charter game was actually on their original schedule that was posted online before the season started.
: : : : : : : : And was taken off Max Preps during the season only to be added back the last day. After somebody had posted that Alemany was looking for 2 games to get to .500 the last week.
: : : : : : : I'm talking about on school website and cif. Maxpreps schedules are often inaccurate because its not required and has not oversight. If it was on schools page and cif they likely had a contract and thus a forfeit if LC didn't want to play. What they did was smart and what any coach with a pulse would do. If they didn't try getting to 500 then the AD and staff would be idiots and would be at Alemany.
: : : : : : So not embarrassed that a Mission League team not only schedules a Lakeside Charter but takes a forfeit win to weasel into playoffs? At least you could have scheduled the Washington Generals.
: : : : : They have two games like that...in early December a "win" against 1-25 Laguna Hills. I feel like that's plenty of time to try and reschedule a game, especially if they were able to add Muir so late, hope those coaches are friends. Not a good look for Alemany at all, but they will win a championship Saturday so no one will care.
: : : : The top four in that league make it the best in the state. The bottom 4 all play a weak non league schedule to be able to stay at 500 and make playoffs.
: : : Notre Dame’s non-league record their opponents finished a total of 12 games over 500 and 15 made playoffs
: : : Loyola non-league opponents finished 90 games 500 and 16 made playoffs
: : : Saint Francis nonleague record for their opponents finished 134 Games over 500. 16 teams made the playoffs.
: : : Chaminade Nonleague record for their opponents finished 40 games over 500. And 15 of those teams made the playoffs.
: : : Alemany non /league teams had a record of 91 games over 500 and 14 made the playoffs
: : : You might wanna think about degree of difficulty of schedule. All four of the bottom four teams played a more demanding non league schedule league than Notre Dame did And Sierra Canyon, Harvard Westlake , Crespi All played a more demanding non-schedule than Notre Dame. That said Notre Dame is super talented and it was a shame. They didn’t make it into the open division.
: All well and good. Bosco Tech's opponents were 215 games over .500 plus they won league and actually had a .500 record in ACTUAL (non-invented) games. Point is... shady.
I am not arguing that the way Alemany made it into the playoffs is sketchy, but rather your statement about the league
Strength of schedule as of the latest data
HW 26.9, SC 25.1, ND 20.4, Crespi 23.1, St. Francis 20.3,
Loyola 20.0, Alemany 17.9, Chaminade 17.4 BOSCO T, 12.0
If you look at the computer rating BT is well behind 5 of the schools and just barely ahead of another school
The above 500 I indicated was for just the non-league schedule, no league games or play factored in as you did with BT. If I did, 2 of the schools in the bottom half had opponents whose combined w/l was 220 or higher. Not to mention every team in the mission league won at least 1 game in the playoffs in much tougher divisions than 3A.
Bottom line BT would be in the bottom half of the Mission League
