: After attending several youth tourneys and watching and listening to the coaches, I must say how disappointed I am in what I see and hear.
: Having been involved with every level of bball from HS to M/W Div I in various states, Cali seems to be the only one in which these AAU programs/coaches aren't required to pass coaches classes or atleast attend coaching clinics as they do in other states before playing in a tourney. Some (most) of these coaches just scream and holler without providing any directions. Screaming at a 12yr old for making a mistake and then substituting for that player before he/ she's given a chance to correct their mistake is one of the cardinal sins of youth coaching and seems to be the preferred method of Cali AAU.

I have to partially agree. Most of the coaches I’ve come across are usually parents or volunteers. I’ve had to play against teams where a coach is constantly screaming/shouting instructions every single play to a point where some of the players become scared to play… But at the same time I’ve come across some good coaches that don’t rely on raising a voice but can actually coach and make necessary adjustments
