Preps headed for CSUN? October 10, 1997
The Daily News reported today that Inglewood High point guard Stanley Jackson and Mountain View St. Francis High guard Senque Carey (6'-4" Sr SG) will visit CSUN this weekend. Jackson has been rated by Athlon Sports as the eighth-best prep point guard in the country, and West Coast Hoops has rated Carey as " one of the top 2 guards in no cal and one of the top 4 guards in the state" (as of August 28, 1997). Jackson has reportedly already committed to Braswell. Carey originally committed to USC, and is also being recruited by Washington and GW, and was reportedly rated as a "top-75 rising senior" by Hoop Scoop, according to the Daily News.
Only problem with the Daily News report? It came out on October 10, and is really old news. West Coast Hoops reported this story on September 29, 1997, two weeks ago.
Way to go Daily News. Nice fish wrap.
And, we hear the paper is for sale by Jack Kent Cooke's estate. And for only around $200 million.
Good.
However, there is some news that West Coast Hoops didn't have that's in the Snooze: Women's Hoops recruiting.
According to the same Daily News, the Women's Basketball program is recruiting Miesha Mattison, (6'-0" C) from San Bernardino Valley College, who will visit "this weekend". Last weekend CSUN was visited by Cerritos High's Monet Andrews, a 5-11 shooting guard. Andrews is reportedly also being sought by Arizona State, New Mexico and Loyal Marymount.
The women's program is also reported to be hot and heavy after the Dosty twins, Mermisha and Jerkisha, from Del Campo High in Sacramento. Both are 6'3 forwards who are also being sought by Colorado State and St. Mary's in the Bay Area. According to the paper they "are expected to take an official visit in early September". . . Nice touch Daily Snooze. This story appeared on October 10. . .you'd think by now that somebody at the paper would've caught that and would know whether they actually made that visit (they did).
