More "Confirmation" on Prince from
Wildcats' Lair--(November 19, 1997)

As if it wasn't enough that he personally announced it himself, the Wildcats Lair (a very good site on UK Basketball) is announcing that Prince's signing is "official". Here's what they had to say:

"It's Official - Tayshaun Prince is a Cat !

"(3:15) It's official Tayshaun Prince has signed with the Kentucky Wildcats !!! What a day !!! In a bit of an early announcement than was previously expected - Tay announced at noon (pt) that he will be a Cat. Tay is a 6-7 WG/WF who can knock down the 3 as well as take the ball to the hole. Prince is a razor thin left-hander who could definitely stand to gain a few pounds, but will none-the-less make an immediate impact with the Cats next year.

"With a class of Blevins, Camara, Allison, and Prince - all top-100 recruits, Prince being a top 10, Camara in the top 30, Allison and Blevins rated anywhere from 29 to 96 the Cats would seem to have reloaded and we still have one more to offer at this point. Does Brown, Grundy or some yet to be named recruit get this 5th scholarship OR does Tubby wait until next year ? We shall find out in time - but give Tubby and Co. credit - they turned what could have been a iffy start on the recruiting trail into a very good class. Kudo's to Tubby, George and others."

The Lair also announced about one hour before Prince's announcement (at 2:15 EST) that Desmond Allison had also signed with Kentucky. This has got to put Kentucky at or near the top of the recruiting hill this year.

Actually, though it's not completely official yet, because as of 4:20 p.m. there was no word from the school. This probably just means that they haven't received the fax copy of the letter yet. NCAA rules prohibit the institution from commenting on the signing unless and until they receive the letter, signed by both the athlete and a parent or guardian. Doesn't Dominguez have a fax?
