CSUN Forward O'Quinn Reinstated--(November 26, 1997)
CSUN's suspension leader, forward Mike O'Quinn, who was suspended for the second time by Bobby Braswell this season last week, and who missed the Oregon State Game, has been reinstated, and is expected to play Saturday when the Matadors host vising Wisconsin, in a game which will be televised on FSW2.
So far O'Quinn has been suspended once when he was playing at Loyola Marymount, and twice in the early season alone at CSUN. This last time was because of a "verbal altercation" with Coach Braswell.
O'Quinn told the LA Times "I snapped and I deserved it, and I'm glad [Braswell] did it. Thourgh those days I though a lot. I talked to my mom and my pastor. there were things in my life I had to change and now I realize what is No. 1 in my life."
O'Quinn is needed about now. In the opening game against Arizona State, O'Quinn scored 26 points. Braswell continues to believe in him, telling the Times "I'm very confident that Mike will respond and do the things he needs to do. Not making that trip hurt him. I think he reflected on that."
So, after Monday's practice following O'Quinn's reinstatement, what did the team do? They went to Braswell's house to watch Pepperdine play Wisconsin. And we all know the result of that one. Pepperdine 77, Wisconsin 66.
Look for a great game on Saturday. If you're not going to be at the 4D or Slam-N-Jam Thanksgiving Tournaments, you've got a good excuse. But if not, be there.
