Update: Las Vegas Reebok Holiday
Prep Classic--(November 30, 1997)
This is going to be an amazing tournament. For those planning to go to Las Vegas from the 19th through the 23rd of December for one of the most prestigious high school basketball tournaments, the Reebok Holiday Prep Classic, we've got the first two days schedules and brackets for you. Our thanks to SoCal basketball fanatic and coach Lee Garson for this information.
Many of the finest elite and formerly elite teams from last year will be attending, and there's enough basketball for even the most hardcore fanatic.
Many of the best teams in SoCal will be attending this tournament: (not in any particular order)-- Long Beach Poly, Peninsula (Rolling Hills), Harvard-Westlake, Westchester, Lincoln Prep (San Diego), Rancho Bernardo (San Diego), Newbury Park, Los Angeles High, Compton, Poway, Pacific (San Bernardino), Inglewood, and Simi Valley. Simi is actually one of the highest seeds in the tournament, and receives a first round bye. On Saturday, in Game 30, they will play the winner of Friday's game between Manual (Denver, CO) vs Westlake (Austin, TX) (game 8)
Other top rated teams in the nation will also attend, including Mt. Zion, Rice (NY), Mercersburg (PA), East Jefferson (LA) and Salmen (LA).
The games will be played at Durango and Cimmaron High Schools (each has two gyms). Don't worry about the "Game Number" designation in the first round. The numbers become important in the second round for determining playoff bracketing. Here are the schedules for Friday, December 19, and Saturday December 20.
