2-6 Gahr-Cerritos
Basketball Tournament--(November 15, 1997)
Just got the brackets and matchups for the uxsmsteenth (ok, so we don't know how many times it's been held) Annual Gahr-Cerrito Basketball Tournament. The pool play rounds will be held at both Gahr and Cerritos High Schools and the Championship round will be held at Gahr High.
This year's tournament will feature teams from Norwalk High, Pioneer High, Long Beach Wilson, Centennial High, Artesia High (Jason Kapono, James Murdock, Jamal O'Quinn, Aaron Hamilton, Jonathon Stokes, Willie Alford), Huntington Park (Chris Urbina (5'-11" Jr. PG) John Trujillo (6'-0" Jr. SG) Leo Ceja (6'-7" Jr. C/PF) John Jones (5'-9" Sr. PG/SG) George Lopez (6'-4" Sr. F) Joe Hernandez (6'-4" Sr. C/PF 250 lbs.) Fernando Rodriguez (6'-0" Sr. G) Hansel Lugo (6'-1" Sr. SG) Edwin Marin (5'-9" Soph. G) Ivan Aguilar (5'-8" Jr. G) Eddie McClean (6'-2" Sr. F) Javiar Becerra (5'-7" Jr. G), Mayfair, Long Beach Millikan, Cerritos High (Janus Norman, 5'-11" Sr PG) , Bellflower High, Narbonne, St. John Bosco and Duarte (Willie Brown, 5'-10" Sr SG) .
Artesia will just have competed the day before at in a classic matchup against Crossroads Isaiah Fox (6'-9" Fr. C 255 lbs.) Felipe Williams (6'-3" Soph SG/F 190 lbs.) Chad Gordon (6'-2" Jr. F/SG) Devrin Anderson (6'-1" Jr. SG/SF) Mischa Taylor (6'-5" Jr. F/PF) Steve Johnson (6'-3" Sr. PF/C) Adam Shimolian (6'-3" Jr. SG) Kristofer Lofgren (6'-2" Fr. F) Robert Cave (5'-10" Fr. PG) Martin Usher (6'-0" Fr. G) Daniel Utsinger (6'-1" Jr. SG) at the Compton Tip Off Classic at Compton College. That Game is December 1, at 6:30 p.m.
The preliminary rounds will be played Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday December 3, the Quarter Finals will be on Thursday, December 4 (same day as the Wooden Classic at the Pond), the Semi Finals on Friday, December 5, and the Consolation/Championship Rounds on Saturday December 6.
So here's are the preliminary rounds:

The winners of each game will advance to the Championship bracket, while the loser of each game will advance in a consolation bracket. The consolation games will be held Thursday at 3:00 pm and 4:30 p.m at both locations, while the Championship brackets will be held starting at 6:00 and 7:30 at both locations.
The Friday games will also be held at both locations, and the consolation bracket games will be held at 4:30, while the Championship round games will be held at 7:30. There will also be games for the fifth place spot (Championship bracket) to be held Friday at 6:00 at both locations, and with the final for fifth at Gahr on Saturday at 4:30 pm; the ninth place mini-tournament will be held at both locations on Friday at 3:00 pm, and the finals for ninth will be held Saturday at Gahr at 1:30.
Saturday's finals will all be at Gahr. The Consolation bracket finals will start at 3:00 pm; The Championship bracket games will start at 6:00 pm for third/fourth place, and the Championship Game will start at 7:30 pm.
Looks like a great tournament. Don't miss it, or at least those parts which don't conflict with other must see tournaments.
