Some Little Known Cal Facts--(November 10, 1997)

Technically, this isn't about SoCal, but it is about Cal, as in Berkeley. A little known fact about Cal is that it's probation this season and next from the NCAA also includes a proviso that Cal not play any exhibition games. As a result, Cal's basketball season will not begin until 11/22/97, when the team will go from no games, to a very big game against North Carolina, at 4:30 PM in Chapel Hill, NC.

So, while SC, Pepperdine, UCLA, Irvine, Fullerton, Long Beach and others are all busy playing preseason games, and getting tuned up with the Southern California All-Stars, the Slam Dunk All Stars, and the Lithuanian teams, Cal is not yet even getting warmed up. Think this pre-season lack of exhibition games also hurts Braun in his recruiting efforts? It sure can't help.
