Keith Bean Signs with NC State--(November 20, 1997)
On November 4, we reported that Keith Bean, a 6'8" top rated forward, one of the best among the nation's top high-school seniors, and a former player at Fontana High, now at Maine Central Institute was"likely" to commit to N.C. State. Well, it's official now, because Bean signed a National Letter of Intent before the early signing deadline yesterday.
Bean was initially recruited by California, Michigan, Ohio State and UNLV. He averaged 11 points and seven rebounds last season at Fontana High, and was ranked the No. 33 senior by Bob Gibbons.
Bean will be joined by Adam Harrington, a 6'-5" guard/forward swingman from Pioneer Valley Regional High School in Northfield, Massachusetts.
NC State currently has six freshmen on the roster who will be called upon this year to step up early in their careers. The group, NC State Coach Sendeks first full recruiting class since coming to NC State, was ranked among the nations top 10 classes by many recruiting analysts last season.
