Keith Bean "Likely" to UNC--(November 4, 1997)

Keith Bean, a 6'8" top rated forward, one of the best among the nation's top high-school seniors, and a former player at Fontana High, now at Maine Central Institute is said to be "likely" to commit to N.C. State sometime this week. Several recruiting services have even reported that he has verballed, but it has not been confirmed yet.

Several sources close to the basketball program at N.C. State said yesterday that Bean's commitment is "imminent." Bean was sought by, but has apparently eliminated California, Michigan, Ohio State and UNLV, and will settle his ultimate choice after conferring with his family.

Bean, averaged 11 points and seven rebounds last season and is ranked the No. 33 senior in the nation by Bob Gibbons. Coach Max Good of Maine Central said yesterday he could not confirm that Bean has made a decision.
