The Mailman and FaxmanDelivers for CSUN--(November 13, 1997)

CSUN was sent two letters yesterday. One came by fax, and the other is coming by mail. Once the second one comes, Bobby Braswell will sleep a little bit easier. That's because Bradley Jackson (5'-9" PG, Inglewood High) and Dan Read (6'-10" C, North Eugene High, Oregon) both sent in their letters of intent to CSUN. Jackson's was sent by mail, and Read faxed his to the school.

Jackson was rated by California Cage report as a "real good athlete with speed and quickness" but was not rated by them among their top 25; he was rated though by Athlon as the eighth best point guard in the nation, and as a "grand theft" for Bobby Braswell by the Verbal Advantage. He was also recruited by Loyola Marymount, Tulsa, Florida State, Colorado and Colorado State.

Read played with CSUN's freshman guard Carl Holmes in high school, and their team finished third in the Oregon State Championships last year. He is described as being thin, with good inside moves and a nice 3 point shot for a big man. According to Braswell, though, he'll have to put on some weight and possibly might redshirt next season until he gets his weight and strength up.

Braswell told the Daily News's Marc Spears that "He's just thin right now. He is going to add weight and get stronger. He is one of the most skilled guys I saw this past summer."

The Daily News also contacted Jackson who told the paper, "I'm real happy and I can't wait until next season comes. I wanted to stay local and not go out of state. I also really like the coaching staff. I'm not nervous about the Athlon ranking. I felt that I have played like that at times. It doesn't add any pressure because I know what I can do."

Jackson told the Daily News that because Inglewood High doesn't have a fax machine, he sent his letter by overnight mail. Since the school had not yet received the letter, Braswell was unable to comment upon Jackson's signing.

CSUN doesn't expect to sign any other players until the spring period in April.
