Cal Poly SLO v. St. Mary's: So What
Went Wrong? Nothing. Really--(January 4, 1998)

Ok, so we're back with the headline. And why not. This was not a pretty game for Cal Poly, even though they won it by 16 points. Maybe because they won it by 16.

Mike Wozniak scored 22 points and Jabbar Washington added 19 points and seven assists as Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo defeated St. Mary's, 89-73, Saturday. The Mustangs (7-5) were 12-of-23 from 3-point range, including four 3-pointers by Wozniak. Eric Schraeder had 23 points and eight rebounds for St. Mary's (5-7), while Frank Allocco added
20 points, including five 3-pointers. The Mustangs led 48-43 at halftime, and were helped by the Gaels' 20 turnovers as Cal Poly scored 21 points off those miscues. Frankly, this does not look like the St. Mary's team which made it to the NCAA tournament last year, and if they keep playing this way, there's no way they're going to the dance.
