Lincoln Stuns Saints
Maybe Saint Augustine was looking ahead to their huge game with USDHS Friday night or maybe they underestimated Lincoln's strength, but 5th ranked Saints fell to Lincoln 65-64 Tuesday afternoon. Saints rushed out to a 20-12 lead after the first quarter and clung to a 38-32 halftime lead. Lincoln cut the lead to one after three at 52-51 and outlasted Saints for the victory. The win put USDHS in sole possession of first early in Western League play at 2-0. Saints and Lincoln are tied at 1-1.
Lincoln was
led by Anthony Watts, who scored 13 (8 in the fourth) to go with
nine boards and 3 blocks. Rod Cooksey scored 12 for Lincoln.
Billy Silva led Saints with 14 as the Saints had four players
score in double figures in the loss. The loss makes Friday's game
even more important for Saints as they may see their hopes for a
Western League title vanish early with
another setback.
