Report: Ruben Douglas Scores
43 Points. Bell-Jeff Loses--(January 25, 1998)
Finally for today, the last of stuff, highlights and scores. There will be more tomorrow, but for now this is it. And fittingly, it's another high scoring game for a single player in SoCal. In fact of all the games we've covered this weekend from Friday and Saturday, this appears to be the highest scoring game for one player. And guess who was involved? Go ahead, guess.
Santa Maria St. Joseph 73, Bell-Jeff 71
Ruben Douglas did it again.
And Bell-Jeff lost yet again.
Ruben scored an amazing 43 points (still Gilbert Arenas has the area high score with 46) and he also pulled down 11 rebounds. But it just wasn't enough for the Guards at Bell-Jeff as Santa Maria scored one more basket than they did. St. Joseph held Mike West to eight points and 10 rebounds, both season lows. Douglas made seven of 10 three-point shots for the Guards, who are now a disappointing 11-11 overall this season. Bell-Jeff also managed to squander a 37-25 lead. Mike Hoffman scored 30 points for St. Joseph, which is now 13-7.
