SoCal High School & Prep Report

More Northern LA County and
Ventura County Games From Friday--(January 18, 1998)

Again, we want to continue to bring coverage of SoCal high schools hoops which is complete, or at least as complete as possible. We haven't found the time yet to type in (or scan) all of the league standings, and chances are we won't be able to scan them, due to contraints with html text formatting, and the difficulty of accurately scanning and having OCR software recognize the newsprint. Neverhteless, in an effort to be about as thourough as possible, here are some additional scores and highlights from games in the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Ventura County areas.

Golden League:

Antelope Valley 78, Palmdale 74--

The Antelope Valley team and the Palmdale team like to run. Both teams are athletic and both came into Friday night's Golden League showdown with identical records. Something had to give. Friday night it was the Antelopes who took round one with a 78-74 victory over the Falcons. Josh Speaks scored 32 points, including 14 in the final quarter, and Roger Price had 20 points and 17 rebounds for Antelope Valley (11-7, 2-1). The Falcons (10-8, 1-2) led most of the first three quarters but went without a basket for the first four minutes of the fourth quarter.
