ALPHA LEAGUE
Marshall 93, Village Christian 47
The showdown for first place in the Alpha League turned out to be an ambush. The Marshall High boys' basketball team used its full-court press to overwhelm Village Christian, 93-47, Tuesday night in a matchup of the league's remaining unbeaten teams at Village Christian. Brendan Marshall scored 16 points and Deverion Macrem added 15 points for the Eagles, who are 5-0 in league play. Paul Tait scored nine points for Village Christian (9-11, 4-1), which trailed, 24-5, after one quarter and, 49-17, at halftime.
L.A. Baptist 65, Frazier Mountain 41
Brian Bauer
scored all seven of his points in the fourth quarter, and the
Knights outscored the Falcons, 20-7, in the quarter to pull away
for their first Alpha League victory at Frazier Mountain. Evan
Regenstreif and Frank Vasquez each scored 12 points for L.A.
Baptist (6-11, 1-4).
DELPHIC LEAGUE
Campbell Hall 63, Whitney 55
Josh Glass
had 21 points and seven assists, Ronnie Polk scored 19 points and
Brandon Woodard had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Vikings
(12-7, 2-3) in a Delphic League game at Campbell Hall. Senior
guard Ashley Rochester scored 11 points, but poor foul shooting
(12 for 26) cost the Wildcats (7-14, 2-3) in their loss to the
Vikings.
HIGH DESERT LEAGUE
Kern Valley 64, Paraclete 60
Glenn Jones
had 17 points, and Josh Foster had 12 points and 12 rebounds but
the Spirits (4-12, 2-3) lost a High Desert League game at Kern
Valley. Neal Preston scored 27 points and Josh Sakaloff had 18
for Kern Valley (8-8, 1-4).
MISSION LEAGUE
St. Francis 61, Notre Dame 47
Senior guard
Richard Fields scored 23 points and junior forward Derek LaVelle
had 14 for the Golden Knights (9-8, 3-3) in a Mission League game
at St. Francis. Chris Williams had 16 points for Notre Dame
(8-11, 1-5).
NON-LEAGUE
Antelope Valley 75, Victor Valley 60
With his team leading, 18-6, in the first quarter, Antelope Coach Tom Mahan emptied the bench in a nonleague game at Antelope Valley. Roger Price collected 25 points and 19 rebounds, and Josh Speaks had 17 points for the Antelopes (14-7). Jermaine Prater added 11 points.
Boron 56, Vasquez 44
J.R. Faquir
had 13 points and Jay Panico scored 12 and the Mustangs (3-12,
1-6) fell at Highland
High. Thor Yarbrough scored 33 points for Boron.
