Southern Section Games--(January 26, 1998)

We wish we had time to report on each and every game, filing a report with highlights, news and notes about all the teams playing. Obviously that's just not possible. In lieu of that, SoCalHoops will continue though to report scores and highlights for as many games as possible, including line scores only where time constraints make more detailed reporting not feasible. SoCalHoops has already reported most of these scores from Saturday's games, but a few are new. Here's the Southern Section games for Saturday from Ventura, LA and Orange Counties. Oh, and just for fun, we've got a few late games from Friday as well:

Maranatha 56, L.A. Baptist 55

Ben Hamady's free throw with five seconds left gave the Minutemen a victory at Pasadena High. Frank Vasquez scored 20 points for L.A Baptist (5-12, 0-4), which rallied from a 10-point deficit with two minutes left to tie the score, 55-55.

The leading scorers were: Ruben Douglas of Bell Jeff with 43 points; Fields of St. Francis with 32; Hoffman of St. Joseph with 30; Justin Beach of Chaminade with 30, and Taylor of Milken with 30.
