Pomona Valley Report: Wednesday's
League Games--(February 5, 1998)

We're still checking to see which games we're missing, and if we find any more we'll update this. Here are the scores and highlights from Wednesday's games played in and around the Pomona Valley-Ontario area:

Miramonte League

Pomona 93, Covina Charter Oak 76

Jerry Green scored 23 points with 10 assists and Shomari Sarpy added 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Pomona (16-7, 6-1) to a 93-76 Miramonte League victory over Covina Charter Oak. Chris Lee had 11 rebounds for the Red Devils, who outscored the Chargers in every quarter.

Garey 69, Hacienda Heights Wilson 51

Bobby Ward scored 15 points and Josh Long had 11 points and 10 assists to lead Garey (15-8, 6-1) to a 69-51 win over Hacienda Heights Wilson (0-7 in league) in a Miramonte League game. Trey Cobb added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings.

Los Altos 69, Walnut 58

Sierra League

Rowland 63, Ayala 58

Julius Barnes scored 20 points as Rowland Heights Rowland (17-5, 6-1) beat Ayala (18-5, 6-1), 63-58, to force a first-place tie atop the Sierra League. Jack May had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs and Roman Dolven scored 14 points.

Diamond Bar 68, Baldwin Park 43

Brian Pichon (22 points) scored 12 and Brad Wright (20 points) added nine in the third quarter as Diamond Bar (19-4, 5-2) pulled away from Baldwin Park 68-43 in a Sierra League game. Pichon added seven steals for the Brahmas.

Valle Vista League

Ganesha 72, Covina 57

William Warren scored 23 points and Mau Uiagalalei added 15 points and 11 rebounds, leading Ganesha to a 72-57 win over Covina in the Valle Vista League. Ganesha (13-11, 7-3), which led 29-14 at the half, also got 10 rebounds and eight steals from Eric Manuel.

Northview 54, Bonito 36
