Jason Day: Nike Extravaganza III Afternoon
Games "Official Stats" --(February 9, 1998)

Here are the scores and performances for the three afternoon session Nike games. These are from the "official" stats sheets handed out at the games. We've already provided some details about what happened at these games, but here are the "official" stats from Jason Day who picked them up at the event.

GAME 1.....Oceanview 54, Etiwanda 41

For Oceanview only one player scored in double figures....Kevin Hanson (6'-10" Sr), had 13 points, 10 boards, 1 block, 5 assists. Matt Kiemle (6'-4" Sr.) had 9points, 2 boards, 2 assists. Tony Dow (6'-1" Jr.),was 1-7 from the field but 6-8 from the line, for 8 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, and a steal.

For Etiwanda again, only one player in double figures: Matt Donahue (6'-3" Sr.) was 4-14 (all threes, he was 4-11 from there), 6 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal. Gary Colbert (6'-3" Sr.) had 9 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, with 6 turnovers. Chris Dill (6'-1" Sr) had 6 points, Rudy Simpson (6'-3" Sr) had 5 points, 7 boards, 2 assists.

First quarter score was 7-4 Oceanview...it was 24-15 at the half. Etiwanda also scored single digits (6) in the third quarter. Etiwanda had an offensive explosion in the fourth, scoring 20 points. But, Oceanview scored another 16.

GAME 2....Servite 46, Santa Margarita 43

For Servite Rafael Zielonka (6'-5" Sr) had 16 points, 5 boards, and a steal. Steve Shea ( 6'-5" Sr.) had 12 points, 4 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal. Evan Friedl (6'-4" Jr) had 11 points, 7 boards, 3 assists;

For Santa Margarita T. J. Williams (6'-0" Sr) had 21 points, (7-14 overall, 4-9 from three), 4 boards, 3 assists, 1 block, 4 steals; Jake Rohe (6'-5" Sr) had 9 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, 1 block, 1 steal; Another "barn burner", 9-7 Servite at the end of 1st. 22-19 at the half. 33-32 Sta. Margarita after 3 quarters. Servite scored 14 in the fourth, while, Sta. Margarita could only manage 10.

GAME 3.....Los Alamitos 69...Capistrano Valley 62

For Los Alamitos Matt Komer (6'-7" Sr) had 21 points, 12 boards. Ryan Ellis (6'-5" Sr) had 18 points, 13 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal; Rick Garibay (5'-10" Sr) had 15 points, 2 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals; Enrique Phillips (5'-10" Sr) had 5 points, 5 assists, 2 steals; Nathan Lee (6'-3" Sr) had 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, Jeff Grgas (6'-7" So) had 9 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks, 1 steal, to go with 3 points.

For Capistrano Valley, Tom Pincott ( 5'-10" Jr) had 15 points (3-3 from three, 4-5 overall, and 4-4 from the line), 4 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals; Josh Garret (6'-9" Sr) had 14 points, 15 boards, 3 blocks, 1 steal; Jermaine McDaniel (5'-11" Jr), had 12 points, 2 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal; Mike Stowell (6'-3" Jr) had 8 points, 4 boards, 7 assists; Ryan Badrtalei (6'-2" Sr) had 8 points, 4 boards, 1 assist.

Los Al led 13-11 at end of 1. Capo only scored 8 in second quarter...Los Al led 32-20 at half. Close 3rd (17-13 Capo), high scoring 4th (26-24 Capo)....Final 69-62

Also everyone should be aware there is a significant error in my Dominguez article...the "20+ rebounds" for Tyson Chandler originally read "2? (Question mark) rebounds." He only had two officially. It must have come across funny in the electronic translation and transmission.
