Daily News Athlete Of The Week:
North Hollywood's Keron Wilkerson--(February 3, 1998)

The Daily News ran it's prep special today in boys' and girls' basketball. The Daily News selected Keron (which they misspelled "Kyron"--oh, how things have gone to hell in a handbasket since whatshisname went over to the Times) Wilkerson of North Hollywood High.

Last week, Wilkerson led the Huskies to two victories with 34 points, nine rebounds and five assits against El Camino Real on Wednesday and 30 points and seven rebounds against Monroe on Friday.

Wilkerson is the Huskies' top scorer, and has improved his perimeter shooting since last year. He isn't the biggest player around (6'-4" 155 lbs.) but he has the ability to shoot off the dribble and drive to the basket. His coach, Rob Bloom, was quoted as saying:

"He's always been a good shooter but he's gotten even better this year. What he's done differently is go to the basket moree, which draws a lot of fouls."
