Bakersfield Report: Tuesday's Games--(February 4, 1998)
Hey, we're finally timely with our Bakersfield reporting thanks to receiving the news only one day after the event. There was some pretty good action in the Southwest and Southeast Yosemite Leagues on Tuesday. Here are the scores and highlights:
Southwest Yosemite League
Centennial 61, Stockdale 50
Clint Mills and Brett Lantz each scored nine points in the fourth quarter as the Centennial High boys basketball team handed the Mustangs their first Southwest Yosemite League loss Tuesday, 61-50, at Stockdale High. Centennial (2-2 SWYL, 11-10 overall) outscored Stockdale 22-11 in the fourth quarter. Mills finished with a game-high 20 points. Lantz had 18 points. Stockdale (3-1, 9-12) got 16 points from Dan Fritts.
West 74, North 47
At West, Chris Jackson scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Vikings to the Southwest Yosemite League win. DeShun Jackson added 17 points for West, and Tim Hatton led the Stars with 10 points. The Vikings improved to 15-7 and 3-1 in league.
Southeast Yosemite League
Highland 75, Foothill 64
At Highland, junior guard Ricky Shaw had 22 points and Datrimell Mayberry added 14 points to lead the Scots to a Southeast Yosemite League victory. Tyron Tyler added 13 points and Charles Wiley scored 10 for the Scots (13-9, 3-1 SEYL). For Foothill, Ray Martinez had 14 points, Jason West had 13, Richard Calloway had 12, Arnold Walton had 11 and Myron Hurd 10.
East 68, South 63
At East, Steve Carter scored 19 points to lead the Blades. Kevin Kizzy led South with 21.
