Valencia Tournament Update: Ventura Beats
Littlerock First Round--(December 16,1997)

We promised we'd find out about Ventura's game against Littlerock, which was played at 6:00 p.m. at the Valencia Tournament, and which was the only one our correspondent had no idea about. So here's the news:

Ventura won, 74-60 over Littlerock. Ventura was led by Gary Peterson, who scored 18 points, all three-pointers (that would be six of them, thank you), and Mike Askay with 20, a game high. Jeff Staniland of Ventura had 17 points and had seven assists in the win.

The win brings Ventura to 1-3 on the season. They will play again on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Valencia, which soundly defeated Burroughs by 38 points, 83-45. This next one should be an interesting matchup, and at least for now we'd probably pick 7-1 Valencia to advance.

But then it is their tournament after all, and it looks like they had something to do with the seeding.
