Tournament Update: Dominguez Beats
Muir; Tyson May Be Injured--(December 6,1997)
As we reported yesterday, Dominguez High, Compton, is playing in the South Lake Tahoe Tip-Off Tournament. Some of the finest teams in NoCal were reported to be there, as well as several from SoCal and the Central Valley. We've just gotten a report from one of our friends who attended yesterday's game between Dominguez and Muir. Dominguez apparently just hammered Muir, winning 79-63, and according to our sources the game was not close. Muir was described as "pesky but certainly no match" for Dominguez. Tayshaun Prince was said to have had a good game, shooting a lot from the 3 point line, and passing well. According to our source, Dominguez is "a class above the rest of the teams here."
Dominguez will match up tonight against the host team South Lake Tahoe. According to our friend, "Expect Coach Orlich [of South Lake Tahoe] to press like mad on defense and stall on offence...Tahoe has a history of playing well against the giants but this will be an enormous test."
But the bad news may be that Tyson Chandler may have been injured in the Muir game. According to our friend, " Tyson Chandler appeared to have sprained an ankle. When the team left the building to go back to their motel he was limping noticeably. Thought you might want to know. . ."
As soon as we hear some further news we'll let you all in on it.
