Pasadena Beats Cleveland by One Point--(December 3,1997)
Trailing 37 to 51 going into the fourth quarter, Pasadena made an unbelievable comeback, going on a 27-12 scoring run against Cleveland, which was capped by a game-winning three point shot by senior guard John Wilburn with only nine seconds left on the clock, to win the game 64-63. Wilburn scored 12 points, including 3 three pointers in the fourth quarter. Pasadena trailed by as many as 16 fwith only five minutes remaining, before starting a 14-2 scoring spree.
Pasadena coach Tim Tucker used a three guard lineup in the final quarter, looking for outside scoring from guard Vahan Parseghian and quickness from forward Lafayette Sanders. Wilburn led the Pasadena Bulldogs with 20 points, and Brooke Ewing added another 13. Pasadena is now 1-0 and Cleveland is 0-1.
