Coyote Classic:
Magnolia Wins Championship--(December 7,1997)
This is a sort of late report on the Buena Park Coyote Classic from Friday, but we're going to publish it anyway, since it's got some background to the Championship game, which was played yesterday. This last Friday, Buena Park beat Saddleback 54-44, helped by the fine shooting of Brian McDonald and DeAndre Gipson, who each scored 12 points to lead Buena Park to the Championship game. Buena Park was 3-0 with the win, and the victory advanced them to the Championship game last night against Magnolia, which was played yesterday at Buena at 8 pm.
In the Championship game Magnolia (which plays in the Orange League with teams from Anaheim, Brea Olinda, Sevanna, Valencia/Placentia, and Western), defeated the host Buena Park team 70-64. Magnolia was aided by the outstanding shooting of Zamiro Bennem, who scored 21 points in the game. Anthony Zaragoza of Buena Park had 20 points for the Coyotes, whose record is now 3-1 with the loss.
Congratulations to the 1997 Buena Park Coyote Classic Champion Magnolia High team from all of us at SoCalHoops.
