Tourney Finals:
Hoover Wins--(December 6,1997)
Not surprisingly, Hoover won it's own tournament last night, defeating Crescenta Valley 76-58 at Hoover. All-Pacific League forward Mark Hull scored 22 points and grabbed 12 boards. Hull, who also had 5 assists, was selected at the Tournament MVP. He had 71 points and 33 rebounds in the three tournament games Hoover played. Hoover's other top scorers were Zareh Avedian, with 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Artin Del Keoukian with 13 points and 20 boards. Hoover is now 3-0 on the season. Crescenta Valley, now 3-2 on the season, was led by Derek Dawson with 18 points and Christ Shakhmalian with 15.
Third Place:
In the third place game, Burroughs defeated Marshall 68-55 as Forward Jeremy Cartee scored 18 points and had eight rebounds to spark Burroughs (2-1) to the third place win. Kevin Krose and Preston Tucker of Burroughs scored 15 and 12 points, respectively, and Tucker had 10 rebounds.
Fifth Place:
Glendale 60, Belmont 55: In the fifth place game, Glendale outscored Belmont, 23-4, in the final six minutes to overcome a 51-37 deficit. Glendale, now 2-1 for the season was led by Tomik Iranosian with 18 points and Krikor Karamanoukian with 15.
Seventh Place:
Burbank 52, Eagle Rock 47: Jonah Martin scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half for Burbank, now 1-2 on the season. Jake Brower scored 11 points and Juni Williams had 10 for Burbank, ranked No. 9 in the region in the LA Times preseason poll.
