Valencia
Guard Jason Richardson
Suspended for Four Games --(December 10,1997)
The Daily News is running a story this morning about Valencia point guard Jason Richardson, who was apparently suspended for four games because he violated a school district rule which requires a player to attend class the day of a game. Valencia Principal Paul Priesz said that the district rule calls for a two game suspension but that Valencia coach Gary Spindt has added two games.
Apparently the suspension period ended yesterday, and Richardson will be available to play in the Valencia Tournament, hosted by Valencia next Monday.
Go to class, young man. You don't want to end up like Latrell, do you?
On second thought, with the NBA looking like it's about to cave in, we want to congratulate Coach Spindt. There are far too many coaches today who wouldn't have had the courage to suspend a key player. Good job.
