SoCal High School & Prep Tournament Report

Tournament Update: Arroyo Tourney
First Night--(December 9,1997)

We didn't get to go to these games either, being busy with "other stuff" last night, but the Arroyo Tournament at Arroyo High School in the Pasadena-San Gabriel Valley area looks like it's putting on a pretty good show. They've got Bell-Jeff and Ruben Douglas, Workman, Arcadia, Keppel, Los Altos, Gabrielino, Monrovia, and Bravo Magnet.

Here are the scores from the first night:

Arcadia 56, Keppel 50
Bell Jeff 74, Workman 53
Los Altos 59, Gabrieleno 50
Monrovia 54, Bravo 49

In the Bell-Jeff v. Workman game, Ruben Douglas must have put on quite an exhibition. He had 39 points and Mike West, Bell-Jeff's only really big man this year with the defections through transfers and moves, scored 18 points. Douglas also had 14 rebounds. This was the season opener for Douglas and the Bell-Jeff Guards, and you guessed, therefore they are 1-0.

We have no idea what Workman's record is.

We'll try to get a schedule on this tournament, but the news on it (except in Pasadena) is rather sparse. If not, we'll all just have to settle for small reports and scores, because we won't be able to attend. Anyone care to file a report on some of the games? Just send some e-mail and let us know.
