Fall Discovery Shootout:
All The Stars Coming Together: Rosters--(Sept. 19, 1998)
One of the purposes of the Shootout format is to allow players to play, not just with travel teams, but to give the coaches and scouts the opportunity to see those players who just want to come out and show their stuff. Lots of guys enter as "individuals" and are then placed on teams, all with the designation "Stars" (with the exception of the Las Vegas Stars, who are really all from the same school, Durango) . Some of the teams are more "stacked" than others, and those that are will typically face the tougher and more well known travel teams like Rockfish, Pum-N-Run, IEBP or some of the good out of state teams. Some of the players come from out of state, like James Garel (6'-5" Sr. G/F) from Washington's Highline, or Justin Logan (6'-0" Sr. PG) Bishop O' Dowd , and many are local guys who split up from their regular teams to get some variety in competition like Kyle Morrison (6'-1" Jr. G) from Venice and his other teammates who will split up today and tomorrow. We won't repeat all of the schedules for each of these teams individually, since we've already put up the master schedule. Here are the rosters, with the exception of the West Coast Stars, coached by Phil Bryant, about whom we've done a separate article:
