Schea Cotton To Play With The Lakers--(Sept. 18, 1998)

No really. Schea Cotton will play with the Lakers this weekend at the Pump Discovery Shootout in the JC Division.

Schea Cotton (6'-3" Fr. G/F) who has finally enrolled at Long Beach City College, and who's next stop could very well be an NBA team (or just as likely a two year stint at a D-I college after finishing two years of JC) will play with the rest of the Long Beach City College guys, but they'll be playing as the "Lakers" because of some obscure rule enforced by the California Community College Athletic Association which prevents players from playing for their college team "out of season." There's no prohibition against playing together, they just can't call themselves "Long Beach City College" and they can't wear their official uniforms. There's probably a rule about coaches not being on the bench either, but we're not sure about that one though.
