UCLA Recruit Patrick Cesera
Ruled Ineligible--(Sept. 23, 1998)

It now appears that Patrick Cesera (6'-8" Fr. PF) who had hoped to be a walk on this year will not be attending UCLA after all, because he has not met the NCAA's complicated and difficult requirements for admission of foreign students.

It was widely believed that Cesera would bring additional power to the post position, relieving Gadzuric and Moiso, but remember, there are still a few other guys on the roster who can play the forward/post position, including Travis Reed (6'-7" So. F) who weighs in at 220 lbs, and who ably handled the spot last year during Jelani McCoy's protracted and ultimate banishment from the team. And don't rule out freshmen Matt Barnes (6'-7" Fr. F) or even JaRon Rush (6'-7" Fr. F) from giving these guys a breather now and then, although there's no way that any of them is really a "replacement" for either Gadzuric or Moiso, both of whom are 6'-11" and who possess vastly superior post skills than any other players on the team.
