Long, Tall Texans: Houston Hoops Roster--(Sept. 13, 1998)
People have been asking for the Houston Hoops' roster. Actually this is a team which is about 1/3 from Baton Rouge. Here they are:
Andrew Long
(6'-1" Jr. G) Stratford HS (Houston, TX)
Nick Anderson (6'-7" Jr. F) Southern Lab HS (Baton Rouge,
LA)
Carlos Hurt (6'-1" So. PG) Alief-Elsik HS (Houston, TX)
Trayvean Scott (6'-2" Jr. PG/SG) Southern Lab HS (Baton
rouge, LA)
Armon Tillman (6'-4" Sr. F) Willowridge HS (Houston TX)
Mark Gabriel (6'-3" So. G) Kingwood HS (Houston TX)
Mike Ridgeway )6'-6" Jr. F) Stratford HS (Houston TX)
Roderick Ambrose (6'-6" Jr. F) Southern Lab HS (Baton Rouge
LA)
Jason Klotz (6'-10" Jr. F/C) Klein Forest HS (Houston TX)
Nolan Betterfras (6'-10" Jr. F/C) Cy Creek HS (Houston TX)
Carlos and Trayvean are the two guards who have started most games together with Klotz and Butterfras in as twin towers, something that Houston has been famous for doing for years (of course at the pro and collegiate levels :-0)). The other wing forward who has usually started is Nick Anderson, and he's also been one of the high scorers for the Houston Hoops team.
Trayvean Scott is probably the more talented of the two small guards who trade off at the point spot, but we like Carlos' slashing style of play better. He's got tremendous handles, a very quick first step, and a great ability to change direction and speed.
Houston is a very exciting team to watch, and we would figure that they'll be one of the teams to make it to the semis, and perhaps to make it to the final.
