What About Brandon Hawkins?--(Sept. 1, 1998)

Remember Brandon Hawkins? The 6'-2" Sr. PG from Crenshaw who lit up Westchester last season with 33 points, who was named all City, and who last spring reportedly signed with D-II Metro State in Denver? Well, this morning we got word today from Brandon that he grew a full inch during the summer and he's now 6'-3". He also wrote to say that he will attend prep school this fall rather than enroll at Metro State. In April we did a daily article about Brandon's signing with Metro State. A lot of people were surprised that Brandon would sign with a D-II school, and apparently over the summer he had some second thoughts, and has now decided to take an extra year to qualify for a high D-I program, and he'll attend St. Thomas More Prep. Brandon leaves town this Monday, September 7. We want to wish him well, and hopefully he'll keep us up to date on his progress during the year.
