Chris Osborne Commits To Arizona
State; Maddox Up Next?--(Sept. 29, 1998)

Frank Burlison reports in the Orange County register today that Arizona State "got its fourth high school commitment this past weekend" as Chris Osborne (6'-8" Sr. C/F) from LA Westchester High, said he would sign with the Sun Devils.    Osborne is a huge, powerful forward/center who will be an immediate impact player for the Sun Devils, in our humble opinion.

The other three committments so far for ASU coach Rob Evans are Phoenix-area star players Donnell Knight, Tommie Smith and Tanner Shell.

And Burlison notes that Evans is now targeting heavily Tito Maddox (6'-4" Sr. PG) from Compton High, and if he pulls that one off, again in our humble opinion, Arizona could be one of the best in the Pac-10 for a long time to come.  Tito had been scheduled to visit Arizona State this past weekend, but decided to play in the Rim Rattler Fall Showcase (a game that he and Compton teammate Terry Hosendove showed up for late).  According to Burlison, Tito is now scheduled to be at ASU the weekend of Oct. 8-10, "when the school's football team plays host to Notre Dame."   Tito is also being pursued by  Connecticut, Fresno State and Oregon State, but we'd have to say that with the impending signing of Osborne which will lend at least one friendly face to the place, Tito might just become a Sun Devil.
