Jacobsen Out; Jacobson In. We're So Confused!--(Aug.4, 1998)
Now we know what Vinnie Barbarino must have felt like. Frank Burlison reported in his column today in the Orange County Register that Casey Jacobsen (6'-5" Sr. SG) from Glendora, who most recently played for SCA in the Nike National Championships, and who helped the U.S. 17-U team win the title game in the World Games in Moscow, and who was weighing committments to Utah, Stanford and Duke (at least that's what he told us on Saturday after the semifinals of the SCA game with Belmont Shore) will apparently have to trim his list to two schools.
Burlison reports that Nick Jacobson (6'-4" Sr. SG) from Shanley High of Fargo, North Dakota, has verballed to the Utes, and that Majerus will therefore no longer be pursuing Jacobsen. Burlison also notes that Nick Jacobsen has turned down scholarship offers from Minnesota, Clemson and Texas to play for Utah next year.
It's not that we doubt Frank or his sources for one minute, but we'll just have to hear some confirmation on this from Majerus before we really believe that Casey is out at Utah.
