Bauer Commits To Minnesota--(Aug. 18, 1998)
Hey, we realize that this isn't exactly about SoCal, but with our coverage of the Big Time and the Double Pump Best of Summer, the guys from the Howard Pulley Basketball team have gotten some increased coverage, and they have spent a good deal of time in SoCal, so we feel completely justified about reporting this one. We got an e-mail from Joe Hyser, the head coach of the H. Pulley about Mike Bauer. Here's what he had to say:
Mike Bauer (ranked #16 at the Nike Camp in Indianapolis) of Hastings Minnesota and Howard Pulley Basketball has verbally committed to Minnesota. He surprised everyone on our team Saturday at his house where we were having our team party by announcing that he was attending Minnesota. The recruiting process was starting to wear on him and he ultimately wanted to play in front of his family. He asked us to keep it confidential until it came out in the papers today. He is also recovering remarkably well from his broken leg and will start running on it in two weeks; however he will not be able to play with our team in Howard Garfinkels tournament at Staten Island on Sept. 18-20.
