4-D Labor Day Weekend
Boys & Girls Tournament--(Aug. 8, 1998)

Labor Day is just around the corner, and while the Labor Day weekend is not part of the official NCAA contact period, it's a great time for the younger ones to show their stuff, and also for some of the 14U, 15/16 and Varsity teams to tune up for the bigger fall exposure events.

Which is why one of the best events is the Annual 4-D Labor Day Weekend boys & Girls Basketball Tournament, set for September 4-7, 1998 at Leuzinger & South Bay High Schools. This year the event is sponsored by Lawry's Restaurants

The fee for the tournament is $325.00 for boys teams and $250.00 for girls teams, and frankly we're not sure why there's a difference in the fees, but each team will be guaranteed a three game minimum. The fields in each age division will consist of 16 teams, so entries are limited to the first 16 teams registering.

The tournament will feature the following age groups, and the games will be governed by CIF rules, i.e., stop clock, 4 time-outs per game, 5 fouls per player, double bonus after the 10th team foul.

There will be individual and team awards, T-Shirts, the usual stuff including trophies tothe 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Consolation Champs.

We also hear that 4 "D" Stars will be setting up their own website soon, and their promotional materials have a web address of http://www.4dbasketball.com, but for now at least the site doesn't appear to be functioning.
