Double Pump West Coast All Stars
Senior Class All-Star Team--The Top 25--(July 14, 1998)

Once the underclassmen, hustlers and juniors were finished, it was time for the Senior Class All-Stars, featuring the top 25 seniors this year. Again, keep in mind that this is an exposure camp with more than 340 players, the vast majority of whom were seniors, so picking the top 25 may not be as easy as it looks, especially considering that the selection committee still had to hold back the "Best of the Best" who were yet to follow. There were obviously more good players who weren't chosen for this team than who were, but the top 25 picked were truly deserving.

Here's the list of the West Coast All Stars Senior All-Star Team, the Top 25 seniors:

Because of a few no shows, and one deletion (B.J. Ward was moved from the Senior All-Stars to the Best of the Best), the following additions to the roster were made at game time. Notice that they're all from Fresno. Coincidence? We think not:

Jason Bow (6'-4" Sr. G) from Clovis West, Fresno, CA
Ashley Knowlton (6'-0" Sr. G) also from Clovis West, Fresno, CA, and
Shammel Stallworth (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF) from Washington Union, Fresno, CA.

Trennell Eddings gave his usual solid performance at the point and Derek Lambeth was a very pleasant surprise for us. He's a fairly muscular, solid player who does very well in the open court, drives to the basket but also likes to involve his teammates and he had some great passes. Aras Baskavas, who is not part of the Pump N' Run II (actually now the Pump IV due to the addition of the Hilltoppers) played well and is a solid 2 guard who is absolutely fearless around the paint. We also like the Anderson twins, and they should be prime mid-D-1 prospects this year. We know that Riley Wallace, the Hawaii Rainbows coach was pleased with both of the them, but he especially had his eye on Kaunoa McGee (6'-3" Grad. G), whose brother was a big time scorer for the 'Bos a few years ago. Kaunoa is going to be attending prep school in Connecticut and it will be a big change for him. Look for him at Hawaii in a couple of years.

Napolean Rhodes sure didn't play up to his size; he's a very solid, strong guy, but he was a bit sluggish, and perhaps the exhaustion of having played at ABCD, then four days at West Coast All Stars, and looking forward to the next two weeks of non-stop games had him a bit tired just thinking about it. Aaron Hamilton did his best Tito Maddox impersonation, but he doesn't score nearly as well as Tito does; still we really like him and think he's fundamentally a very sound player with a nice shot. Finally, Eric Rowher continued to help his stock rise with this camp, and he was being scouted by most of the Pac 10 schools, including USC this morning by Henry Bibby. We hear that USC is also looking at Hamilton and Eddings and any one of them would be nice additions.

Congratulations to all of the seniors selected to the 1998 West Coast All-Star Senior All-Star team.
