Double Pump West Coast All Stars
Junior Class All-Star Team--The Top 18--(July 14, 1998)

Following the Freshman-Sophomore and 100% All-Star Teams, was the selection of the Top 18 Juniors. This was a tough one, a sort of tweener group, and there were just a lot of very good juniors who didn't make this team, and every one who was selected was certainly among the best juniors this year.

Here's the list of the West Coast All Stars Junior All-Star Team, the Top 18 juniors:

Junior Class All-Stars-- Top 18

Markel Abram 6'-8" Jr. McClymonds Oakland, CA
Hassan Bassiri 6'-0 Jr. Notre Dame Sherman Oaks, CA
Zach Devine 6'-2" Jr. Chugiak Eagle River, AK
Nick Enzweiler 6'-6" Jr. Camp Lindo Moraga, CA
Drew Gressett 6'-1 Jr. Westlake Austin, TX
Mark Jackson 6'-0" Jr. Olympus Salt Lake City, UT
Jason Johnson 6'-8" Jr. Upland Upland, CA
Marqui Jones 6'-5" Jr. Fairfax Los Angeles, CA
Chris Lopez 6'-7" Jr. Clovis West Fresno, CA
Brandon Madlock 6'-5" Jr. Robert E. Lee Tyler, TX
Brennon Martin 6'-6" Jr. Trabuco Hills Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
Kyle Morrison 6'-1 Jr. Venice Los Angeles, CA
Jamar Murphy 6'-4" Jr. Amphitheatre Tuscon, AZ
Ben Rogers 5'-8" Jr. Colusa Colusa, CA
Ronald Ruffin 6'-5" Jr. Chatsworth Los Angeles, CA
Wyatt Spencer 6'-9' Jr. Buena Hereford, AZ
Demarcus Williams 6'-7" Jr. Upland Upland, CA
Branduinn Fullove 6'-5" Jr. Simi Valley Simi Valley, CA

We've already featured a little bit about each of these players, but here's some additional stuff we saw today:

Abram is a big, strong guy who rebounds well, but needs to hit the weights a bit; by next year, could be a big time sleeper. Bassiri is a lanky two guard with pretty good accuracy, who made some great off-balance shots in the game today. Chris Lopez is a "man among boys" with a huge body; he's a very mobile, agile and quick guy for someone his size, and he's also got pretty soft hands and a nice shot. Kyle Morrison is also going to be a huge sleeper this year; a shooter, he played well and had some tremendous defensive efforts (yeah, they actually played defense). We also especially like Ronald Ruffin from Chatsworth, but we think the committee made a major bonehead mistake when they didn't select select Adam Drell (6'-5" Jr. G/F) also from Chatsworth for either the junior team or the 100% team (and they also missed out on Mark Cannon (6'-1" Sr. PG) who definitely should have been on the Hustle team). Upland is also going to be scary next season with both 6'-8 Jason Johnson and 6'-7" Demarcus Williams, both of whom have the size, strength and power to pound the boards all day. Among the guards, we especially liked Ben Rogers, a quick little 1, and Mark Jackson.

Congratulations to those who made the 1998 West Coast All-Stars Junior Team.
