West Coast All Stars "100% "
And Freshman-Sophomore All-Star Teams--(July 10, 1998)
There were two other all-star teams selected from the more than 300 players at this camp, the "100%" All Stars, also known as the "Hustle" team, which was composed of the guys who showed the most hustle, worked the hardest consistently, and who showed the most promise as a result of all that hard work. The other group was the Freshman-Sophomore all-stars, which was a lot harder to pick than you might think given the fact that there was a definite shortage of freshmen at this event. Nevertheless, everyone selected was clearly deserving. We're not going to review each one of the players, except to say that there was one player who absolutely distinguished, and stood out not so much because he's such a good player now, but because one day he most certainly will be a big time player. We're talking about probably the youngest and smallest player at the camp, little Deon Simpson, who at 5'-5" is just going to be starting 8th grade this fall. He proved that age or size is no barrier where a player has ability and determination, and he hung with the big dogs all throughout the game, showing fine fundamentals for a kid his age.
Here are all the Freshman-Sophomore All-Star selections from the first session:

The "100% Game" featured a bunch of guys who all could have made any of their class designation teams, but these were some truly outstanding hustlers, many of whom showed great improvement from last year. Again we won't go through them all, one by one, but here's the list of selections. Congratulatios to them all.
