UNLV Doesn't Like The Mustangs,
Pays Price To Get Out Of Game--(July 30, 1998)

The Associated Press is reporting tonight that UNLV has "bought out its contract" and won't play a scheduled game game at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on Dec. 5. Instead they'll play a in a televised game against Arizona State on the same day.

The UNLV-Arizona State game will be part of a Pac 10-Western Athletic Conference (or whatever they're going to call it) doubleheader which will be played at the America West Arena in Phoenix. Arizona and Wyoming are the other teams in the doubleheader. Cal Poly's AD, John McCutcheon says the Mustangs plan to replace the UNLV game with another on the same day. Just who they have in mind was not made known.
