Games to see: 4:45 p.m. at Carson, Bay Area Ballers v. Carson BB; 2:45 at CSULB West it's Riverside Church, one of the top teams in the country. At 9:00 pm it's Bob Gottlieb's Branch West Basketball Academy I team going against the very powerful Long Island Panthers, fresh off their sweet 16 Vegas trip.

We'll have the rest of the pool play schedule, with Wednesday's games, in a little while. Following pool play, the tournament splits into two brackets, a Championship Bracket, which plays Thursday, Friday and culminates in Saturday Championship games. The final is at 8:00 p.m. in the West Gym at Cal State Long Beach, and the consolation Championship is set for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. also in the West Gym.

The teams that don't make it to the Championship Bracket from pool play (only the top two teams go on), i.e., the 3rd and 4th place teams in each bracket, are placed into the "Friendship Bracket," which is a great euphemism for "losers bracket." Hey, did we say that? Actually, in watching all of these tournaments, the one thing you come to discover is that there's no such thing as a "losers" bracket. Actually "Friendship Bracket" has a pretty nice ring to it, and it's pretty accurate with the way these tournaments end up, since a lot of players play for different teams and over the years, everyone ends up knowing each other and becoming pretty friendly anyway.

See you there.
