First Annual Los Alamitos/Nike
Summer Spectacular--(July 9, 1998)

Frank Burlison of the Orange County Register reminded his readers this week that the First Annual Los Alamitos/Nike Summer Spectacular got started today at 8.a.m at Los Alamitos High, and will continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Championship game is set for Sunday night at 9:20 p.m. We don't know what happened today (because we were otherwise occupied, but as soon as we find out (please. . . somebody e-mail us the brackets, schedules and results!) we'll post them up here. This is a pretty nice tournament, featuring some fine teams, but many of them will be missing their best players, some of whom are either at camps or just out. There are 24 teams in all, including Loara, Cypress, Santa Ana, Villa Park, Pacifica, Calvary Chapel, Los Alamitos, Fountain Valley, Ocean View, Sonora, Mater Dei and Huntington Beach.
