Dermarr
Johnson To Transfer
To Maine Central--(July 29, 1998)
Louis Johnson reported in his article today in the Long Beach Press Telegram that Dermarr will transfer to Maine Central Institute, a prep school. Guess who he'll be playing with: Avery Queen (5'-5" Jr. PG). Yeah, that Avery Queen. The real MVP of the Best of Summer. Nice team.
Johnson (Dermarr) told Johnson (Louis) that he "hasn't grown as a player" while attending his current high school, Newport, and has decided to transfer and play for military-style coach Max Good of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine, for his senior season.
"We do a lot of winning at Newport, but I don't think I've gotten better," Dermarr told Johnson. "Coach Good is known for getting the best out of his players and for preparing guys for life outside of basketball."
Dermarr also indicated that he might not opt for the NBA out of high school. He likes Michigan, Pitt, UNC-Charlotte, Utah, Georgia Tech and Maryland.
