adidas Big Time Tournament
Quarterfinal Results--(July 20, 1998)

We don't have time for any in-depth report now, but we wanted to pass this along as soon as possible:

There are now no West Coast (or SoCal for that matter) teams left in the Big Time.

Here's what happened this morning:

The Madison Broncos beat DC Assault pretty convincingly, 81-66 in the first game at Durango's Main Gym at 9:00 a.m.

In the other 9:00 a.m. game, in Durango's Auxiliary Gym, the Carolina Sonics I beat Pump & Run I 85-78.

So that sets up the matchup this afternoon at 2:20 in Durango's main gym in the first semifinal game between the Madison Bombers and Carolina Sonics.

In the other half of the quarterfinal bracket, in the 10:20 a.m. game in Durango's Main Gym, the Michigan Mustangs beat a fine team from Mississippi, Above the Rim, by only two points, 73-71.

In the other 10:20 am game, the Atlanta Celtics defeated the Illinois Fire 77-73.

So the other 2:20 p.m. game, in Durango's Auxiliary Gym, will be the Atlanta Celtics v. the Michigan Mustangs.

The winners of these two semifinal games will play for the Open Championship at 5:00 p.m. in Durango's Main Gym.

In the "A" and "B" brackets, the games didn't start until 11:40 a.m. in the first of the "A" semifinals, so we don't have any idea what happened yet. The "B" semifinal games don't get underway until 1:00 p.m. Remember, the A and B championship games are both played at 3:40 p.m. in Durango's Main and Auxiliary gyms. So if you want to see both, just stand in the doorway.
